Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 18, 2015 – which was also Tommy’s birthday!  Here is a photo of Chris Layton, Tommy Shannon and Reese Wynans from the red carpet.

When the Rock and Roll fan voting closed on Monday, December 8th, I was notified that Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble had received over 18,000,000 fan votes, which left me speechless!

Robert Wilonsky, Digital Managing Editor of The Dallas Morning News wrote about it; check out his great article.  He kindly included our notes of thanks, but I wanted to make sure they were posted here on my site as well:

Tommy Shannon:
“I understand that a lot of people put a lot of time and effort into helping Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble reach number one in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Fan Voting.  I want you to know your efforts and positive energy mean a whole lot to me. Thank you for your love and support all these years; I appreciate you and don’t take your kindness for granted.”

Chris Layton:
“Tommy said it so well so I posted it [on Facebook]. We were fortunate to have our time together as SRV & DT. The peoples vote was special to me. Thank you for listening and caring all these years.”

Reese Wynans:
“I never thought anything like this would happen.  18,000,000 plus votes. It’s unbelievable. Thanks to all who voted. I’ve never been to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Now it looks like I might have a chance to go.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be announcing the Inductees for 2015 on Tuesday, December 16th.
